PAGE 3 CULTURE….

PAGE 3 CULTURE….
No matter how much fame you have, it’s not something that belongs to you. If I’m famous, that doesn’t belong to me -- that belongs to you. If you can’t remember who I am, I’m no longer famous…..does that mean….it cant be created…it just comes with the deeds  u do…??
Xactly…but very few people get it the right way….today my topic of presentation deals with the culture of creating  FAME….the page 3 culture…..
In authentic terms …its just  a page in a national daily which serves the reader with the latest update of the glliterati world
And   a country with 70% percent population…a bollywud fan…such a page holds enthusiastic readers everyone has different spheres of interst…so I have no objections about the position of that page in a  national daily… …no harm in it…but now I m gng to explain wat xactly is the page 3 culture…lets see is it an effort towards  sincere journalism or more of a sensational journalism. The term page 3 culture  originates from colourful daily newspaper supplements appearing usually on the third page that chronicle cocktail parties and gossip of the glitterati - the country's equivalent of sensational  journalism. Page 3 features color photo spreads of celebrities at parties, highlighting specially  the  misbehaviour. People love to love it or love to hate it, but cannot ignore it. India's runaway Page 3 culture reflects two distinct levels of an aspirational society. One is the need for gossip. The second is the desire to be seen to be famous by featuring on Page 3. One Page 3 sheet  claimed in a recent self-congratulatory article that everyone wanted to be in it but nobody wanted to admit it although the celebrities keep on refusing and retorting any mention about them in any such mentions but  all such myths wash off with the acts they perform in public to gain  just a fleeting look.  Page 3  does reflect the inter-dependence of media and celebrity.
all in all…page 3 is the window to a world where people lead dual lives, sporting a [false] mask all the while. Very rarely it  exposes,  mocks and scoffs at the lives of Page 3 personalities.
The headers in this page generally include the most scandalous of the affairs …which are generally of no efficacy  to the reader at intellectual  level…but  has great potential   to consume the valuable time of the reader..with its flavour…

Who has an affair with whom…who had dress malfunction in a fashion show.??.was it  a publicity stunt… ??who went for  mourning to the celebrity’s house…and the list of superfluous and  absurd subheaders is endless…
the whole motive of my presentation is to put light on the fact that Entering page 3 culture is like climbing a mountain,a mountain of snow..the harder u press the lower u go… u might reach the top but u will come down one time or the other.
the only difference in this case wud be that the only thing tht matters here is for how long u were at the top.its not for the time u stay dere but for the deed that kept u dere…
u have to go thru all the hardships to reach the top from the bottom, bcoz there is no shortcut to this.

Celebrities are a fascination  of a glamour freak…and no protestation against it ..but the loophole lies in the way the image of the celebrity is utilized…a social activist gets a corner slot….on a page where the headline is  that…ash’s got a new haircut…
Wat are we heading to/…its high time that the journalists prioritise what they should
publish.??.the love life of a known celebrity gets   more ears for gossip than the intensity of their selfless work… a wishing to be actress ties up with a celebrity  of the age of his father to be  the top most on PAGE 3…
OFCORSE I agree …wat is sold…is always what is demanded…but I feel a  change in  wat is sold has the potential to change the demands too…if gossip muttered with spice can sell than the genuine admiration of the celebrities can also be sold …just a little thought drift will bring in wonders…page 3 is the food of the youth…for healty intellectual minds of the youth..the food needs to be nutritious…so lets start  to nourish it with stories of people who made their name with an uphill struggle and not with those for whom the story begins and ends at the four letter word…”fame”
thus i'll conclude that   although  page 3 culture  being totally ARTIFICIAL, .if we start working with its actual utility we wud  cum face to face wuth  real people with real  stories.
